Is baseboard heating safe for dog's health?

The normal operations of a baseboard heating system do not generally cause harm to a dog or any kind of pet at home. However, should a pet come into contact with the hot internal parts of a baseboard heater, the heater can be harmful.

As pets generally occupy the same space as a baseboard heater, it is important that access to the device be limited. Placing furniture in front of the baseboard heater or purchasing a heater cover are possible solutions. In the case of particularly inquisitive pets, a fireplace screen can also act as an effective barrier in front of a baseboard heater.
