What is the basic sentence structure?
By Forinfos - 08/02/2026 - 0 comments
The most basic sentence structure contains only a subject and a verb. This is referred to as the subject-verb relationship and is the basis of every correctly formed sentence in English.
The subject is the focal point of the sentence. Basically, the subject explains the purpose of the sentence. The verb explains what the subject is doing. Subjects and verbs must agree, meaning that a singular subject should have a plural verb, and vice versa. Additional common sentence patterns can be made by adding an object, noun, adjective or adverb after the subject-verb pair to modify the meaning of the sentence.
