A goatee used to only refer to a patch of hair on the front of the chin, but now the term extends to hair on the front of the chin and around the mouth. The style is often paired with a mustache. A full beard covers the chin, surrounds the mouth and extends to the hairline, and the ducktail is a full beard that is trimmed to a point, instead of rounded.
