Where do bearded dragons live?

The bearded dragon is found throughout most of New Guinea and Australia. They live in arid scrubs, desert regions and open woodlands where they perch on logs, bushes and rocks or other spots where they can look for food. They sun themselves in the mornings and afternoons.

Notably, bearded dragons wave one of their limbs as a show of submission. This is the case with juvenile dragons and females. Older male dragons discontinue this behavior when they mature. When two males are fighting, they circle each other and hiss with their mouths open while attempting to bite their opponent's tail.
