One of the easiest ways to dye dark hair lighter is to use a homemade dye made from honey, white vinegar, water, olive oil and ground cinnamon. This overnight procedure works because honey is a natural source of hydrogen peroxide, the active ingredient in many hair bleaches. The required supplies are a hairbrush, a wide-toothed comb, a medium bowl, a shower cap, a shower, a clean towel, a fork, a clean plastic spray bottle, honey, white vinegar, water, olive oil, ground cinnamon and a small paintbrush.
- Mix the dye
In a medium mixing bowl, combine 2 cups white vinegar, 1 cup raw honey, 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon. Blend the ingredients together with a fork.
- Dampen your hair
Fill the spray bottle with water, and mist your hair. Comb your hair to distribute the moisture evenly.
- Apply the dye
Apply the dye with a small paintbrush. Cover all of your hair with the honey mixture, and then don a shower cap. Leave the dye in your hair overnight.
- Rinse your hair
Turn on the shower, remove the shower cap, and rinse your hair. Squeeze your hair to remove excess water, and then wrap it in a towel. Squeeze the towel to extract more moisture, then comb your hair, and allow it to dry naturally. Apply the honey mixture daily until you feel satisfied with your hair color.
