What happens when women shave their face?

Facial shaving, or dermaplaning, is a mechanical way to exfoliate the face. Women have used facial shaving as an exfoliation method and to remove facial hair for decades, possibly centuries. Scraping a razor over the face removes hair and dead skin, leaving the skin smooth, soft and glowing.

Many professionals use a number 10 surgical blade to perform dermaplaning. The blade is scraped over the dry skin. Women are advised to use a facial razor or eyebrow razor to shave the face at home. They are intended to be used to shave the face dry rather than with some kind of lubricant or shaving cream.
