The benefits of having an Amazon Student Prime membership include free two-day shipping, special deals and promotions, credit for referring others to Amazon Student, free photo storage and streaming. Amazon Student members receive a six-month free trial with 50 percent off the Amazon Prime membership cost as of 2015.

Amazon Student members get the benefits of a Prime membership with a much longer free trial period and a reduced cost once converted to paid members. A member must be an actively enrolled college student with a .edu email address to earn the Amazon Student benefits. Members get the reduced Amazon Student rate for Prime memberships for up to four years total, including the free trial period.
