Bermuda is not part of the United States, but instead is a British Overseas Territory. Bermuda is located in the North Atlantic Ocean, and it is east of South Carolina.
Bermuda consists of a group of islands and is approximately one-third the size of Washington, D.C. The territory consists of 181 islands and has a total area of 20.6 square miles. Bermuda has a humid subtropical climate and is warmed by the Gulf Stream. The average low in the coldest months of the year typically does not fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. In 1950, however, there was a record-low temperature of 44 degrees Fahrenheit.
