How big do dwarf rabbits get?

The most common dwarf rabbit breed is the Netherland dwarf, which grows to be 1.5 to 2.6 pounds as an adult. Other dwarf rabbit breeds are larger, reaching 4 or 5 pounds as adults due to outcrossing with non-dwarf breeds.
Small rabbit breeds that derive their heritage from the Netherland dwarf include Jersey woolies, Holland lops and mini rexes. These part-dwarf rabbits are small both in size and in proportion. They often have small, rounded bodies, erect ears and short faces similar to those of the Netherland dwarf. Dwarf rabbits are always bred by outcrossing because the dwarf gene is lethal if a rabbit pup inherits two copies of it, meaning that one parent must always be non-dwarf.
