The American Rabbit Breeders Association states that lionhead rabbits have a maximum permissible weight of 3 3/4 pounds. The North American Lionhead Rabbit Club is the ARBA-sanctioned breed club.
ARBA accepted lionheads for championship showing on February 1, 2014. The breed is characterized by its long neck ruff which resembles the mane of a lion. To meet show standards, the ruff must be at least 2 inches long and must make a complete circle about the head. Lionheads were developed in Europe and entered the United States in 2000. The NALRC was founded in 2001 and holds an annual breed show on the first Saturday in May in Columbus, Ohio.
