On average, great white sharks grow to be 15 feet long. Females typically reach a length of about 16 feet, while males reach a length of 11 to 13 feet.
Some records show that great white sharks can reach lengths of up to 20 feet or more. Their incredible lengths allow these sharks to weigh up to 5,000 pounds, making them the largest predatory fish in the oceans. Great white sharks have strong tails that propel them through the water at 15 mph. This, along with an organ located on its head that allows it to pinpoint its prey's location through electrical pulses, makes the great white shark an exceptional hunter.
