How big do mule deer get?

Mule deer can be as tall as 3 to 3.5 feet at the shoulders and weigh between 100 and 300 pounds. Ranging in length from 4 to 6.5 feet, they are smaller and slower than white-tailed deer and are prevalent throughout the western parts of the United States.
Mule deer are so named because of their large ears that resemble those of a mule. These animals have a white patch on their backsides and a white tail with a black tip. They have superior eyesight and hearing.
Only the males have antlers, and the largest males with the largest antlers dominate within the multigenerational group in which the deer live. The deer form large groups for the winter and divide into smaller groups in the summer.
