What is a black drawing salve?

Black drawing salve is an herbal paste. According to About.com, the paste is applied over infections, skin tags, tumors and moles on the skin. The paste reportedly gets rid of any infection or disease the user has, including cancers within the body.

About.com explains that the original black drawing salve was made by the Native Americans and contained bloodroot and crushed ash. This salve was intended to draw out infection. There are different versions of the salve today, but most contain ingredients like comfrey, myrrh and zinc. Black drawing salve is very corrosive and can cause side effects such as tissue damage and severe scarring of the skin.
