How do you get blood out of jeans?

Get blood out of jeans by acting fast, using cold water, dish soap and salt, and not drying until the stain is out. If needed, other household products and laundry treatments may be used to get the blood stain out.
- Act fast
The quicker a blood stain is attended too, the more likely it can come out. Treat the stain as soon as possible, even on the go. Dab cool water on the stain, and blot to prevent it from setting before jeans can be washed. Even a bit of saliva rubbed into the spot can help prevent a permanent stain.
- Rinse with cold water
Use only cold water when treating blood stains. Flood the stain with cold water, and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. Tougher or older blood stains may require 30 minutes or longer.
- Apply salt and dish soap
After soaking, sprinkle salt on the blood stain. Then, apply dish soap to the stain. Rub together in a circular motion. Add more salt or dish soap as needed, then rinse with cold water. Laundry as usual.
- Try other methods
If salt and dish soap fail to remove the stain, try other laundry treatments. Use a meat tenderizer to break up the proteins in blood. Hydrogen peroxide also works well on fresh blood stains. Denture cleaner or glass cleaner can get blood out of jeans. Remember to rinse with cold water and not to dry the jeans until the stain is gone.
