Persons reaching the age of 40 should have annual blood tests performed to check cholesterol levels. Women should also have fasting blood sugar tests done beginning at age 45, according to WebMD.
Men are also encouraged to have fasting blood sugar tests every three years starting at age 45, recommend the experts at Men's Fitness. It is also important that men undergo blood testing to screen for anemia, liver disease and thyroid disease.
Yearly health exams should include check-ups of blood pressure, weight, possible skin cancer, vision problems and immunizations. Women should also have a yearly Pap smear and mammograms beginning at age 40, states WebMD.
