Where do blue bottle jellyfish live?

The blue bottle jellyfish lives in tropical waters in the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean Sea and off the entire coast of Australia. The jellies float near the surface of the water and often wash up onshore.
The blue bottle jellyfish is also known as Portuguese man o' war, a name referring to the jelly's resemblance to a sailing ship of Portugal and not to its native range. Portugal is located too far north to serve as an effective blue bottle habitat. Although the geographic part of the name is misleading, blue bottles do use the wind to travel, just like sailing ships. Because they do not power their own locomotion, the jellyfish are more frequently found in open waters than in coves.
