Iron starts to boil at the very high temperature of 5,182 degrees Fahrenheit. It's naturally in a solid state at room temperature and turns into a liquid at 2,800 degrees Fahrenheit.
Iron is the fourth most abundant element on Earth and is considered the most useful metal. Its usage dates back to 3500 B.C. in Ancient Egypt, but it was not until 1500 B.C., when the Iron Age began, that the element was commonly used for tools and weapons in Asia Minor. Iron is also an important component in the blood, because it helps in transporting oxygen to various parts of the body.
