What is a Boy Scouts rope making machine?
By Forinfos - 03/10/2025 - 0 comments
A Boy Scout rope-making machine is a device that a scout must build as part of the requirements for the pioneering merit badge. A Scout uses the machine to create a rope that is a minimum of 6 feet long, with at least three strands made from three yarns.
A scouting rope-making machine requires only basic tools and easy-to-find, inexpensive materials. There is more than one variety of device that Scouts are allowed to build. One rope maker is made from dowels and a nail. Glue and a drill are also needed, as well as a whittle, file or rasp. Another, more complex version requires plywood, screws, wire, nuts and washers, a saw, drill and screwdriver.
