Brainbook is an online tutorial and test that aims to educate high school athletes about concussions, according to Barrow Neurological Institute. Created by Dr. Javier Cardenas, a leading specialist in concussion and other forms of brain injury, the program was launched in 2011 by Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
Arizona requires all student athletes to complete the Brainbook online training module and pass the test before playing sports, reports Barrow Neurological Institute. The state requirement aims to increase awareness of concussion symptoms among high school students and promote safe practices that reduce the incidence of sport-related concussions and brain trauma.
