How bright is an LED?
By Forinfos - 11/03/2026 - 0 comments
LEDs (light emitting diodes) are brighter than incandescent or halogen bulbs of the same wattage, but LED bulbs are not available in high wattages. Some of the brightest LED flood lamps use 11-12 watts and emit light comparable to a 50-watt incandescent bulb.
Though LEDs look like bulbs, they are not. LEDs are tiny semiconductors encapsulated in plastic. When replacing incandescent and halogen lamps with LED lamps, most likely more LEDs will be needed. When LEDs get older they tend to dim and fade. The life of a LED under normal circumstances is 10 years or 100,000 hours of continuous use.
