What is bromhexine hydrochloride?
By Forinfos - 28/01/2026 - 0 comments
Bromhexine hydrochloride is a cough medicine that acts as an expectorant by dissolving phlegm. Unlike many cough medicines, bromhexine hydrochloride typically does not include additional sedatives that can make the user drowsy.
Bromhexine hydrochloride works by increasing thin mucus, which is capable of diluting the phlegm, making it less thick and sticky. The increase in thin mucus also helps lubricate the hard phlegm, making it easier for the user to cough out.
Bromhexine hydrochloride contains lactose and should not be used by those who are lactose-intolerant. The drug should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the first three months.
