Is bromine a metal or a nonmetal?
By Forinfos - 12/10/2025 - 0 comments
Bromine is a nonmetal element. It takes a liquid form at normal room temperature and has a brownish-red color in both its gaseous and liquid state.
Bromine is the only nonmetal element that naturally takes form as a liquid under normal circumstances. It easily evaporates, and in its gaseous state has a smell similar to that of chlorine. It is commonly found in oceanic deposits such as bromine salts, where it is harvested for use in many products, including dyes, flame-proofing and sanitizers.
Bromine has anti-microbe properties that make it a useful component in disinfecting agents. Inhalation of bromine vapors may cause serious respiratory problems, along with other health complications.
