What is a brush hog brush cutter?

A brush hog, also known as a bush hog, is a type of rotary mower used for cutting brush and heavy grasses. They are typically attached to and towed behind a tractor, although there are some walk-behind models available.
Unlike regular lawn mowers, the blades of a brush hog are attached by hinges, which allows them to bounce up and accommodate obstacles such as rocks or stumps. These blades are heavy, so the outward centrifugal force is greater than the force of the brush coming in. In addition, the blades are thicker, rather dull and shaped like a wedge, which makes cutting thick brush easier. Brush hogs are powered by connecting to a drive shaft from the back of the tractor known as a power take-off.
