Where is Budapest?

The city of Budapest is located in Hungary, at the center of the Carpathian Basin in eastern Europe. The city is split in two by the Danube River. The western half is located in the hills, while the eastern and southern regions of the city are located in the plains.

Budapest is the capital city of Hungary and the seat of the county of Pest. The two halves of the city are referred to separately, as Buda and Pest; they are separated by the Danube River and connected by several bridges situated along the water. Budapest has a population of roughly 1.7 million people.
