In an email to Vehix dealers, Derek Mattson, the Vehix CEO, stated that the official reason for Vehix's closure was that the company didn't align with Comcast's strategic direction. Comcast purchased Vehix in 2008. The final day of operation for Vehix was June 30, 2012.
Vehix, which was headquarted in Salt Lake City, Utah, began in 2000. It provided consumers with information on vehicles and available vehicle listings on Vehix.com. Partners of the company included Carfax and J.D. Power and Associates. Dealers that listed their vehicles on Vehix paid a fee to the company when consumers contacted that dealer, while consumers didn't pay any fees.
