What does the Progressive Snapshot do?

The Progressive snapshot is a device that monitors the driving habits of insured drivers, including mileage, the time of day a vehicle is driven and how often a driver makes sudden stops. The device also records a vehicle's identification number.
The snapshot device is plugged into the diagnostic port located under the steering wheel of a car. Users who display satisfactory driving habits receive a discount on their Progressive insurance policy. According to Progressive, those who drive less frequently, drive safely and do the majority of their traveling during safer times of the day receive a discount. Drivers have to use Snapshot for 30 days to be eligible for a discount.
