Can black bumblebees sting?

By Forinfos - 14/07/2025 - 0 comments

Female black bumblebees have the ability to sting but rarely do. Their stingers are smooth and capable of repeated stings. Males lack the ability to sting.

Bumblebees and carpenter bees are frequently confused since they look similar. Bumblebees, which are large and hairy, typically sport a black-and-yellow body, although they sometimes have orange or white bands. Carpenter bees have shiny black coats and hairless abdomens. Both bees have similar stinging behaviors.

The only situation in which a female bumblebee or carpenter bee stings is if the nest is in danger or if the bee is provoked. Apply an ice pack to the affected area to soothe the sting.
