Cars can be brought onto the Newfoundland ferry system. Travelers can access the province using Marine Atlantic ferries. They are large, and able to carry passengers and hundreds of vehicles. These ferries operate year-round between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The largest ferry is called the MV Caribou.
The boats run twice daily, departing from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Port aux Basques in Newfoundland. During peak tourist season, ferries may run as much as five times a day to accommodate travelers. The ferries have a cafeteria and a play area on board. The trip takes from just over five to seven hours.
