Where can you buy a veterans ID card?

A veteran ID card is not available for sale, and only those who meet the requirements can get one. Enrolling for the health care from the Veterans Administration is the only way to get the card.

An individual who needs a veteran ID card can enroll by submitting application to a nearby VA medical facility. As of 2015, the veteran may also complete the application over the phone by calling 877-222-VETS. Applicants must provide two forms of identification when applying. Approved applicants receive the card within seven to 10 days after having a photo taken. If the card gets lost, it is necessary to contact the VA medical facility where the individual sat for his photo.
