What are Can-C eye drops?

Can-C eye drops contain 1 percent N-Acetyl-Carnosine and are intended to treat and reverse eye problems such as macular degeneration and cataracts. The manufacturers claim that the substance is safe and effective, but their claims have not been evaluated or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Clinical trials carried out in Russia by Dr. Mark Babizhayev, the inventor of the drops, have supported the manufacturer's claims. Dr. Babizhayev performed clinical trials on human and animal subjects and concluded that improvements in vision resulted after three months, with optimal improvement after 12 months. Larger independent studies are needed to determine the drops' effectiveness.
