Cream cheese can be frozen for later use as an ingredient in cooking or baking; however, the texture will most likely change. For this reason, freezing cream cheese for other uses, such as to spread on a bagel, is not recommended. Cream cheese should be used within 2 months of freezing.
Before freezing, the cream cheese should be wrapped tightly in its original package with either freezer plastic wrap, aluminum foil or a heavy-duty freezer bag. Frozen cream cheese should be thawed in the refrigerator and then used within 3 days. A good use for frozen cream cheese is making cheesecake.
