The American Diabetes Association recommends no more than one alcoholic drink per day for women and no more than two drinks per day for men, notes Life Scan. The best drink choices for diabetics include light beers, dry wines, and mixed drinks made with diet soft drinks, water or seltzer as mixers. It is best for diabetics to avoid sugary mixed drinks, such as margaritas and wine coolers, as such beverages can cause spikes in blood sugar.
