Can dogs eat cottage cheese?

Dogs can eat cottage cheese. It is high in protein and is a good source of calcium, phosphorus and vitamins. A medium-sized dog can enjoy one or two spoonfuls of cottage cheese each day.
Dogs are lactose-intolerant and consequently cannot digest many dairy products. However, fermented dairy products such as cottage cheese contain very little lactose. Most dogs can digest cottage cheese with no difficulty. In fact, many veterinarians suggest feeding a bland diet composed of rice and cottage cheese to dogs suffering from digestive upset. To prepare this diet, the dog owner should mix 1 cup of cooked white rice with 1 cup of cottage cheese.
