Can dogs eat pork rib bones?

Dogs should not eat pork rib bones or cooked bones of any type. Once bones have been cooked, they become brittle and more likely to splinter and injure the dog; cooking also reduces any nutritional value contained in the bones.
Cooked bones pose several dangers to dogs. They can cause broken teeth, injuries to the tongue or mouth or become looped around the dog's jaw. The bone can also get stuck in the dog's esophagus, windpipe or intestines. Bone fragments can cause constipation in dogs, and they can cause severe bleeding from the dog's rectum if digested. Bones can also be a source of peritonitis, which is an abdominal infection resulting from perforations in the dog's stomach when the animal swallows bones.
