Ibuprofen, a NSAID safe for humans, is not used by veterinarians, according to WebMD. Other NSAIDs, made specifically for dogs, are much safer, and they include carprofen, deracoxib and meloxicam. Severe side effects may result from a dog's consumption of an NSAID, including death, warns the Pet Poison Helpline.
