People who have taken an MAO inhibitor in the past two weeks should not take these two drugs. Ibuprofen and Sudafed are used in combination to treat sinus congestion, stuffy nose, pain and fever.

Drugs.com explains that ibuprofen is a type of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. It works by reducing the hormones in the body that cause both pain and inflammation. Pseudoephedrine works as a decongestant by shrinking the blood vessels in the nasal passage. Blood vessels that become dilated are often the cause of nasal congestion.
