Can I take aspirin and ibuprofen at the same time?

According to the FDA, it is not dangerous to take aspirin and ibuprofen together. However, ibuprofen potentially interferes with aspirin's benefits when it is being taken to prevent a heart attack or stroke.
WebMD suggests that people who take a daily low dose of aspirin based on doctor's recommendations should consult their doctors about which over-the-counter pain reliever is best. There is some evidence that spreading doses apart possibly helps prevent the drug interaction. Ibuprofen should be taken 8 hours before, or 30 minutes after, aspirin. However, patients should not make changes to their medications without discussing the situation with their physicians.
