Can dogs get pimples?

Adolescent dogs get pimples just like human teens do. Pimples, blackheads or white heads commonly show up on a dog's chin, lips, chest or genital region. By the time most dogs are fully grown, pimples are no longer an issue, although occasional flare-ups are possible.
Great Danes, boxers, and Doberman pinschers seem to suffer more from acne than other breeds. Although pimples are a typical part of adolescent development, allergies, bacteria and improper hygiene also cause breakouts. Regular bathing a few times a month helps reduce pimples on the body. If pimples appear near the mouth, the dog might be sensitive to a new food or other product. If this is not the cause, regular teeth brushing or dental treats often clear up the area.
