Can you drink alcohol while taking minocycline?

A person shouldn't drink alcohol while taking minocycline, states Share Care; however, WebMD says that a person taking minocycline should simply limit the intake of alcoholic beverages while on the medicine. The primary concern is that alcohol may exacerbate some of the side effects and risks of the drug.

Minocycline can cause drowsiness or dizziness, states Share Care, so drinking alcohol while on the drug may lead to more severe concerns about these symptoms. Loss of alertness is also a concern. Other side effects that could be exaggerated by drinking alcohol include nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, mouth sores, coughing and a loss of steadiness, reports WebMD.
