Type 2 diabetics can eat fresh, frozen or canned fruit as part of a healthy diet, states the American Diabetes Association. Dried and juiced fruit can also be consumed, but their smaller portion sizes may render them less filling.

Diabetics can eat low-carbohydrate fruits so portions can be bigger, advises Mayo Clinic. As long as a serving contains 15 grams of carbohydrates, the effect on blood sugar is the same regardless of the amount consumed. Suggested serving sizes are one small piece of fruit, 1/2 cup frozen or canned fruit or 2 tablespoons dried fruit, according to the American Diabetes Association .
