Can a Type 2 diabetic eat cantaloupe in moderation?

Fruits, including cantaloupe, are an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and fiber and are suitable for diabetics, says the American Diabetes Association. Fruits contain carbohydrates which should be taken into account when planning meals, but fresh fruit is a nutritious choice for diabetics looking for something sweet to eat.
Apples, bananas, cherries, grapes and berries are just some of the many fruits diabetics can enjoy as part of a healthy diet, whether fresh, frozen, or canned in juice or light syrup. While dried fruit and fruit juices are nutritious, they may not be as satisfying as other choices due to their small portion sizes, as advised by the American Diabetic Association.
