Can I feed my dog yogurt?

Dogs can eat yogurt, but plain nonfat yogurt is the best option for them. The sugars in regular yogurt are not healthy for canine consumption.
Yogurt is beneficial for dogs to eat because it contains many probiotics. Specifically, the probiotics help maintain a balance of healthy bacteria in a dog's digestive system. If a dog was ill recently and took antibiotics, which destroy beneficial bacteria, then yogurt helps restore the dog's gastrointestinal health. Be cautious when feeding yogurt to a dog, as some dogs are lactose-intolerant, meaning they cannot break down lactose sugars, and can become ill from consuming products containing lactose.
