Can fresh pineapple be frozen?

Fresh pineapple can be frozen for up to 6 months. It should be used within 2 days if stored at room temperature or 3 to 5 days if stored in the refrigerator. Before refrigerating, a whole pineapple should be placed into a perforated plastic bag, and sliced pineapple should be put into an airtight plastic container.
Frozen pineapple does lose some flavor. It should be peeled, cored and cut into chunks with its natural juices, and then placed into airtight plastic bags or containers before freezing.
Canned pineapple can be safely stored up to a year on a dry pantry shelf. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 1 week.
