Gleaner combines have been sold since 1923 and were previously owned by Allis-Chalmers, before AGCO purchased the brand.

The Gleaner L3 Combine had a 200-bushel tank, Allis-Chalmers engine and 158 horsepower engine. It was introduced in 1983 and was discontinued in 1986. In its time, it was considered a top-of-the line combine harvester requiring little maintenance. As of 2016, used Gleaner L3 Combines sell for $10,000 to $15,000 on TractorHouse.com.
