While using a lemon can help remove dirt, grime and hard-water deposits in hot temperatures, it is not intended to be used to remove any bad smells in an LG washer. The official LG website recommends that the Tub Clean or Tub Clean+ product be used to remove smells.

This product should be used weekly for three consecutive weeks to remove any musty smells inside the washer. Smells inside an LG washer can be caused by leaving clothing for too long inside the machine after the washing cycle has been completed. The dampness of the laundry can also result in wrinkling and transfer of colors.
