According to the Judicial Branch of Indiana, applicants for a marriage license must have one form of valid identification, which includes passports, drivers licenses, state-issued ID cards and birth certificates. An applicant must also have written proof of his date of birth and his Social Security Number.
The Judicial Branch of Indiana writes that county policies for documents providing the date of birth may differ, and it advises applicants to consult the county clerk's office. The cost for a marriage license for Indiana residents is $18, but it is $60 for out-of-state residents. Counties may charge additional document fees of $2. Most counties require cash payments.
