>strong>People with dry eyes may find some relief from their dry eye symptoms if they add foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids to their diet, states Mayo Clinic. Omega-3 fatty acid supplements may also help dry eye sufferers.
Dry eyes may be relieved by eating foods such as flaxseed, salmon, vegetable oils and sardines, according to Mayo Clinic. These foods are rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and can help relieve some of the dryness patients experience. Other alternative treatments for dry eyes include castor oil eye drops and acupuncture therapy. Castor oil eye drops can reduce the evaporation rate of tears in the eyes, while acupuncture therapy can help improve dry eye symptoms.
