As of 2015, no legal way exists to download a free, fully licensed copy of OS X Lion 10.7 for Mac. Apple sells a digital download of the software exclusively on its website for about $20.

Mac OS X Lion 10.7 was originally released in 2011 for the company's line of desktop computers. Since then, Apple has released several subsequent updates to its OS X software, currently offering the OS X El Capitan 10.11 as a free upgrade for existing users via the App Store. Several websites, including Cnet.com, claim to offer a free download of Lion 10.7; however, these downloads are not the fully licensed versions of the software.
