The American Academy of Dermatology and the Eye Cancer Foundation both present photos of skin cancer on the eyelid. Basal cell carcinomas are more likely to occur on the lower lid, typically don't spread and can be removed surgically, as the American Academy of Dermatology points out.
A sebaceous carcinoma on the eyelid typically looks like a pimple or sore that bleeds, heals and recurs, according to the Eye Cancer Foundation. The carcinoma often feels firm to the touch and may be crusty where it meets the eyelash. Sebaceous carcinomas rarely develop anywhere on the body other than the eyelid, and they are easily confused with conjunctivitis or pink eye.
