It is possible to pull a muscle in your chest, according to Mayo Clinic. The most common reasons for a pulled chest muscle include coughing too much and muscle overuse.
Other causes for a pulled chest muscle include the rapid, heavy breathing that accompanies a panic attack; however, chest pain can also be a warning sign for some more serious conditions, including gallbladder issues, esophageal reflux, a peptic ulcer, a heart attack and a blood clot lodged in the lung, according to Mayo Clinic. Any person suffering from chronic chest pain should schedule an appointment with a physician as soon as possible.
